The Village Garden, just what WHO recommended
The upside of this pandemic is that it has accelerated a lot of business ideas. We may not see the silver lining immediately but it will soon show itself.
After numerous requests from their guest to host outdoor weddings, The Trademark Hotel eventually took up the nudge and started clearing a parcel of land just behind the Village Market mall which was previously used as a parking bay. This was in January of this year (2020), even before the pandemic.
“The decision was made to turn it into an outdoor wedding venue, but we weren’t moving fast enough. Now with the World Health Organization (WHO) advocating for more outdoor gatherings, with the guidance that the COVID-19 virus has a higher survival rate in enclosed spaces, we are confident that the gardens are just what WHO recommended.” Says Eva Mwangi, Head of Sales Tribe Hotel and Trademark Hotel.
Now with freshly lush grounds marked by brilliant white picket fence, the Trademark Hotel is working up their creativity to deliver some of what will be Nairobi’s most coveted events.
“Our plan with the space is to host thoughtfully curated events for intimate group of friends who can come and enjoy the outdoors freely again. We just hosted our first Barbeque Festival which was a great success!!” Eva exclaims.
Tender meats went around for the oldies catching up over the bands nostalgic dreamy music as the little ones had greattime running around the field in their artsy faces.
In addition to using up the space, they are also looking to provide a platform for performing artists.
“The hospitality and entertainment industries must have taken the brunt of the pandemic. This is why when we are reaching out to our partners in the performing arts industry as we build ourselves back stronger.”
